A Small Note on Matcha, From Our Bar to Your Cup

If you’ve been to Bean There Co. (hehehe), you probably know that coffee is at the heart of what we do. It’s what brought us here, what we work on every day, and what we love sharing with you.
But if you look a little closer at our menu, you’ll notice something else quietly sitting on our “not coffee” menu. Matcha.
And I want to tell you why it matters to us.
Not because it’s trendy, and not because it’s “something different to try,” but because it represents the same values we care so deeply about in coffee.
Everything we serve starts with agriculture. With people. With effort.
The matcha we use, Matcha Meiko by Matchaeologist, is sourced with a lot of care. Matchaeologist is a brand that works closely with tea producers in Japan, and this particular matcha comes from the Uji region in Kyoto, a place known for its long history and deep knowledge of tea cultivation. The leaves are shaded before harvest, carefully picked, and slowly stone-ground into the bright green powder we whisk for you.
When you prepare matcha, you feel that care. It asks you to slow down a little. To pay attention. To be present.
And I really love that.
In our shop, we don’t believe in putting one product above another. Coffee is our craft, yes, but respect is our foundation. So we would never look down on tea, or cacao, or anything else that comes from the hands of people who dedicate their lives to growing something meaningful.
If anything, it’s the opposite.
We admire it. We’re curious about it. We want to share it with you in a way that feels honest and welcoming.
Our neighborhood is still getting to know what “specialty” means, and that’s actually one of the nicest parts of this journey. It means we get to discover things together. No pressure, no rules.
If you’re a coffee person, you’ll always have a place here. And if one day you feel like trying a matcha, we’ll be just as happy to make that for you.
And if you don’t like it, that’s completely fine too. At least now you know the story behind it.
For us, it’s simple.
Good products come from people who care. And when we recognize that, every cup becomes a little more special.
And now… you’ve bean there.
See you at the bar 🤍
